How to wear this popular summer dress in winter

Because the seasons can be quite different in terms of temperature, we often have two different wardrobes here. For example, we bring our winter items back to the attic around April/May and exchange them for summer items such as dresses, skirts and other airy clothing. However, with your next wardrobe switch, there are enough items that you can continue to wear all year round.

Wearing a summer dress in winter

Okay, keeping your winter wardrobe in your closet during the summer might be a bit of an exaggeration. Despite the fact that Dutch summers can be quite changeable, temperatures often don't drop so much that you need a thick woolen sweater. In this case, it's mainly about the summer items that you wear from April to about September.

Make your outfit winter-proof

A summery airy blouse made of linen, for example, is great to wear in the winter by putting a blazer over it. For the real cold-blooded among us, combine the look with a thermal shirt underneath for some extra warmth. Do you have a favourite satin (look) skirt? Swap the sandals for high boots in the winter and wear tights for extra warmth. A nice woolen sweater or blazer on top and your summer item will be winter-proof in no time.

Slip dress in winter

One of the summer trends of the past year, that you should definitely leave hanging in your closet in the winter? The slip dress. You can wear this must-have dress all year round. Of course with a blazer and tights, but there are also other options. For example, it looks great with a tight turtleneck underneath and high boots, but you can also exchange these high boots for flared jeans, for example. Also nice: wear a knitwear cardigan over it and only close the top buttons. You can also wear it with an oversized sweater, which makes it look like a midi or maxi skirt.

In short: take a close look at your current wardrobe and see which items you can wear in both summer and winter with a few simple combinations.
